com.br releases 100 000 domain names

Every year the registry for .com.br domain names, NIC.br, gather previously registered domain names that have not been renewed in a quarantine list. The domains in the quarantine list are released twice a year.

It is now time for a new release, where approximately 100 000 .com.br domain names will be available for applications. The rules for the release are:

Applicants can apply for domain names between October 18th and November 2nd. Anyone with a local Brazilian contact can apply for the domain names.

If more than one applicant applies for the same domain name, the Nic.br registry will assign the domain name to the applicant with the better right to the domain name. The first criteria for deciding better right will be based on Brazilian trademark rights.
