The Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br) has increased the price for the registration of national internet sites. From 1 January 2017, the yearly fee will go up to BRL 40 from from 30. The price had not changed since 2003.

NIC.br also signed an agreement with Equinix for the expansion of the PIX located in the company's data centers. Under the agreement, the Tambore data centre will get direct access to an expanded IX.br (formerly PTT.br). The measure will enable to increase the quantity of participants of the IX.br, which is fifth in terms of global traffic.
