HANOVER, Germany, March 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei and the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br) jointly announced that they have started a long-term partnership to address NIC.br's next generation Internet eXchange Point (IXP) network through Huawei CloudFabric solution at CeBIT 2017.

NIC.br was created to implement the decisions and projects designed by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee -- CGI.br, which is responsible for the co-ordination and integration of all Internet service initiatives in the country. NIC.br has some areas, including the Brazil Internet Exchange, which is the body responsible for IXP services and is among the IXP providers with the largest number of members in the world.

"As cloud computing develops quickly and more and more enterprises are accelerating their digital transformation, the bandwidth requirements of members increase. Fast service deployment is also at more of a premium", Milton Kaoru Kashiwakura, director of the NIC.br IXP project, said "NIC.br is in urgent need of an expandable, versatile, energy efficient, and easy to operate network that can continuously provide top quality service to more than 1000 members."

Using Huawei CloudFabric solution, NIC.br will be deployed with Huawei's industry leading CloudEngine 12800 DC switches and OSN902 optical transmission devices, successfully creating an industry leading next generation IXP network.

1. Flexibly expandable high-speed IXP network

Huawei CloudFabric solution provides NIC.br with high density 25G, 40G and 100G ports, allowing for high-speed network access of members in large scales. The 200G x 80 wavelengths high-capacity optical transmission platform meets the ever increasing bandwidth demands. Bandwidth expansion is also quick and simple, which could take days before but now can be done in minutes. The industry leading virtualization technology can support the operation of DCs with more than 16 million tenants, addressing the member growth paces of NIC.br.

2. Fast adapting IPX network

Huawei CloudFabric solution provides default SLA templates for common Internet services, allowing quick and convenient Internet service deployment. The solution is also compatible with a wide range of third-party ICT devices and management platforms, supporting smooth evolution for NIC.br. Furthermore, Huawei's innovative technologies such as SDN controller cluster and optical-layer ASON help NIC.br achieve continuous and unbroken service running, ensuring high quality user experience.

3. Energy efficient, and easy to operate IXP network

Huawei CloudFabric solution allows for hierarchical and visualized O&M of the optical transport layer, IP layer, overlay layer, and service logic layer. This helps NIC.br and their members to identify faults more quickly. The SDN-based real-time fine measurement technology allows different SLAs to be defined based on the requirements of members, tenants or services, giving NIC.br highly detailed operational control. Fully compatible with 19-inch cabinets, Huwei optical transmission devices with plug-and-play modules can be easily installed in existing DC equipment rooms, helping NIC.br reduce CAPEX. The advanced energy saving technology brings NIC.br one of the lowest power consumption ratios in the industry, reducing energy consumptions.

Mark Wu, CTO of Huawei enterprise networking marketing department, said: "We're delighted NIC.br has chosen Huawei to help them create an industry leading next generation IXP network. As more and more enterprises and ISPs opt for cloud-based solutions, demands for IXP services can only increase. Huawei CloudFabric solution can help IXP deal with such demands and keep delivering high quality next generation IXP services to customers."
