The Brazilian Network Information Center – NIC.br was created to implement the decisions and projects designed by the Brazilin Internet Steering Committee – CGI.br, which is responsible for the coordination and integration of all Internet service initiatives in the country.
The CGI.br maintains working groups and coordinates several projects in areas which are essential to the operation and development of the Internet in the country. In order to perform its activities, the CGI.br created a non-profit civil organization, NIC.br.
